African Bobotie

Recipe ingredients quantity African Bobotie per 6 persons.

  • -3 slices day old bread
  • -1 1/2 c. milk
  • -2 med. onions, chopped
  • -1 garlic clove, minced
  • -1/2 c. slivered almonds
  • -1/2 c. raisins
  • -1 tbsp. sugar
  • -1 tbsp. salt
  • -1 tsp. curry powder
  • -1/8 tsp. pepper
  • -1 tsp. vinegar
  • -1 tsp. lemon juice
  • -1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
  • -2 eggs

Instructions for preparation of the recipe: African Bobotie

  1. Soak bread in milk
  2. Squeeze milk from bread, reserving milk
  3. Combine all ingredients, except milk and 1 egg
  4. Press mixture into an 11 x 7 inch baking dish
  5. Add enough milk to reserve milk to make 3/4 cup
  6. Beat together milk and remaining egg
  7. Pour over meat mixture
  8. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until golden brown and firm to the touch
